New website! New pages!New content!

Hey Everyone!

I am so excited about the launch of the new: www.gillianhobbs.com!!!  I’ve added two new pages (the tour and blog pages) and there will be all sorts of goodies to be announced in the coming weeks!

I’ve been super busy the last few weeks, working on my new EP, and playing lots of charity shows!  I had a blast playing UBC’s Thunderbird Arena a couple of weeks ago for the “Lace Up Your Skates” fundraiser benefiting BC Children’s Hospital and the Rare Disease Foundation, and then playing UBC again for the World AIDS Day benefit concert. Then on Thursday, the City of Port Coquitlam had me, Sheldon Witt and the Light Machines and a number of very young people writing Port Coquitlam’s very own Christmas song !  That was really fun!  “All I want for Christmas…” We’ll be in the studio soon recording that song so that the people of Port Coquitlam can download it and add it to their Christmas collection.  And it’s completely free!!!! So even if you don’t’ live in PoCo, but you’d like to hear the song, I’ll post a link to the download so you can have your very own copy!
Yesterday, the Rave On Studios gang, myself included, played a fantastic show at the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody, BC, promoting the Rave On Studio’s Christmas compilation: “A Very Vancouver Christmas Vol.5.”  What a great show that was!  I performed my song, “Sit Round the Fire” which was on Vol. 4 of  “A Very Vancouver Christmas,” and which was, this year featured on the BC Lung Association’s Christmas Album: Breathe.  Then we all did a sing-a-long at the end of the show!  I’m not sure who had more fun, the audience, or all of us on stage!

Before heading for the show, I was in the studio again laying down the final vocals takes for the first three songs on my new EP.  I am so excited to be back in the studio and recording again!  I’ll be posting tracks from the album in their various stages of ‘doneness’ as I go along. That way you can see what I’m up to and how it’s coming along :)
Anyways, I’m off to sleep soon (lots to do tomorrow). So goodnight and all the best guys!

TTYL & Take care,

Gill

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Hi everybody!
I hope you all had a wonderful time over the Holidays, spending time with those you love most, and hopefully taking some time to relax and unwind yourselves!  I hope you ate lots of chocolate and lovely Christmas dinner food. I know I did.  Mmmmm Purdys :)  I hope you all keep whatever New Year’s resolutions you’ve made. Mine should be to blog more I think.

So here’s my first update for 2011!  The Christmas shows all went VERY well!  Thank you to everyone involved and everyone who came out! They were such a blast, and I was so trilled to be a part of them.  2011 promises a new release from me!  I’m going back into the studio later in January to put the finishing touches on my EP which should be out later this spring!

I’m posting some new tour dates as well. Come out and say hi!  I’d love to see you!  Anyway, it’s time for me to head off, so I hope to see you all soon.  And until then, take care!

May 2011 bring you and the ones you love all the health, happiness and prosperity there is!
Cheers,

Gill

Speaking of videos, I’m currently shooting the music video for “Counting the Days,” the first single off of my up-coming EP.  I’m so excited about how the tracks on the EP sound, and how the video is coming together!  I can’t wait for us to finish it and share it with all of you!

Juno Awards 2011

Wow!  What a fantastic way to honour the best in Canadian Music!

I watched the Junos on Sunday night, and was so proud of the amazing Canadian talent showcased at our largest awards show.  Congratulations to Neil Young for his humanitarian award!  He has done so much for so many, and he deserves it!  The tributes to The Band, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young were phenomenal!
Congratulations to Said the Whale for winning the “Best New Group” award.  I remember working with Ben at HMV a couple of years ago.  Good job Ben!  Keep it up!

I look forward to the Junos every year, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings!
